Acceptable Use Policy
Khula exists so that ordinary people can be paid with dignity and without cash. This policy sets out what the network may not be used for.
Last updated 29 August 2026
1. Prohibited activity
You may not use Khula to collect payment for illegal goods or services, stolen property, counterfeit items, unlicensed firearms, illegal drugs, or any activity prohibited by South African law.
You may not use Khula for money laundering, terrorist financing, sanctions evasion, unlicensed money transmission, or to collect funds on behalf of an undisclosed third party.
2. Restricted activity
Gambling, adult services, debt collection, cryptocurrency trading, multi-level marketing and charitable fundraising require prior written approval and may need additional licensing or verification.
3. Honest representation
A Khula card must be used by the person or business it was activated for. Do not misrepresent who you are, impersonate someone else, or place a card where a payer would reasonably believe they are paying a different person or organisation.
4. Coercion and pressure
Payments through Khula are voluntary. Demanding payment through intimidation, harassment, or obstructing a person until they pay is a serious breach and will result in immediate removal from the network.
5. Testing and abuse of the platform
Do not use stolen or unauthorised cards, run card-testing traffic, attempt to bypass verification, or interfere with the security of the service. Automated or scripted abuse of the payment or messaging systems is prohibited.
6. Enforcement
We may stop a card, hold settlement, suspend an account, or report the matter to law enforcement where this policy is breached. Where appropriate we will contact you first, but we may act immediately if there is a risk of harm or loss.
7. Reporting
If you believe a Khula card is being misused, report it to abuse@khulapay.co.za with the card code and any detail you can share. Reports are treated confidentially.
